Become an Umpire
Umpiring is a great way to gain a new perspective on our sport. It cements your rules knowledge, improves your understanding of game tactics, and gives you the opportunity to be involved in high grade games. Most importantly, you will make a lot of new friends.
For our younger members, umpiring also helps build their confidence, both on and off the netball court.
New Umpire Course
Miranda Magpies runs a new umpires course before the beginning of each season. This course is for people who have never umpired before. It is a pre-requisite to umpiring.
The course is usually open to people aged 13 years and over. It is usually held in late January or early February.
The umpires committee sends an email regarding the new course at the beginning of each year. Please RSVP as soon as possible as numbers of new umpires are capped to ensure that there are enough games for them and that we can support them throughout the season.
Transferring or returning umpires
If you have umpired before for another club, or are returning from a break, please contact our umpires convenor. Our umpires committee will ensure that you are allocated games throughout the season.
